WASM Regional Center monitors early autumn weather fluctuations that begin after the middle of the current month and intensify progressively during the last third of the month.
In detail, the Levant region and northern Egypt will begin to feel the effects of these autumn fluctuations during the middle and end of next week (after mid‑month). The impact will increase noticeably during the last third of the month and extend toward parts of northern Saudi Arabia and Iraq, while heavy rainfall continues over the highlands of southwestern Saudi Arabia.
With the gradual weakening of the monsoon winds over the Arabian Sea, tropical waves will begin to approach the southern Arabian Peninsula. This will lead to an increase in the intensity of weather systems later toward the end of September and the beginning of October.
At first, the rainy weather systems will be concentrated over the Mediterranean region, parts of northern Egypt, and the Levant—especially its northern areas—while heavy rainfall persists over the southwestern Saudi highlands. However, these weather systems will expand and become more frequent during the last third of the month, particularly in the final week.
Temperatures will continue to gradually decline across the Arabian Gulf and the Arabian Peninsula, while the weather becomes milder in northern Saudi Arabia and Iraq toward the end of the month.
Rainfall events are expected to become very heavy and widespread next month (October), covering most regions of the Middle East, especially during the second half of October.
The center will issue reports consecutively, along with the first edition of the seasonal bulletin detailing the nature of the upcoming rainy season in the region.
