Early Weather Alert.. Heat Wave Expected in Jordan During the Coming Week

WASM - The WASM Regional Center is monitoring a heat wave during the coming week that will last for several days, beginning on Sunday and intensifying during mid-week, coinciding with the formation of rainy and thunderstorm clouds in some areas of Jordan, concentrating mainly in the southern and eastern regions of the country.

This heat wave comes as a result of the monsoon winds pushing deep into the Arabian Peninsula, which causes hot air to be pushed directly from the Arabian Peninsula region to Jordan. Additionally, the rise in atmospheric pressure over Turkey and the Black Sea helps push hot air towards Jordan.

Very high temperatures are expected to reach 40 degrees Celsius in the city of Amman mid-next week, coinciding with the presence of medium and high clouds that will be thunderstorm-type in the southern and eastern regions of Jordan.

The heat wave is expected to continue until the beginning of Eid, then gradually recede and temperatures will drop in various regions.

Heat will rise slightly on Thursday, then drop on Friday and Saturday, and the weather in general will be typical summer weather during the coming days, mild during the night and hot during afternoon and late afternoon hours.
