Early Weather Alert: Intense Polar Cold Waves Mid and Late This Month

WASM – The WASM Regional Center is monitoring severe cold polar surges toward the Eastern Mediterranean region, Jordan, and the Arabian Peninsula in the mid-month period, resulting in a significant drop in temperatures, heavy precipitation, and an increased chance of snow in mountainous areas.

The weather will remain warm in the coming days, with light rain showers expected on Friday and a noticeable temperature drop. Successive weather lows are expected to become active at the beginning and middle of next week, intensifying increasingly and accompanied by severe cold polar winds shortly after mid-month.

The warm weather these days does not mean the end of winter and the beginning of spring, but rather "normal" weather conditions that occur in most seasons, particularly during the month of February. This month is characterized by rapid weather fluctuations, significant temperature variations, and "strong" activity of weather lows and winter storms.

In scientific detail, a strong and deep atmospheric high is expected to build over central and northern Europe with values exceeding 1045 millibars, coinciding with the presence of severe cold polar air in eastern Europe, Turkey, and the Black Sea region. As a result, severe cold polar winds are expected to surge toward the Eastern Mediterranean region, causing heavy precipitation, increased chances of snow, and a significant drop in temperatures, especially in the period after mid-month, which is expected to continue intermittently until the beginning of March.

The WASM Regional Center relies on the advanced climate model that we at WASM have developed, which specializes in long-range forecasts and continues to excel in detecting distant weather systems. We also rely on W.DMM technology, which is flexible multiple computational model technology that maintains the accuracy and stability of forecasts over long periods of time. WASM has distinguished itself with the most accurate and best weather bulletins in the region over the past weeks without causing any confusion in weather reports.

WASM continues to monitor weather conditions and will issue all updates in upcoming weather bulletins, and we will issue all weather updates
