WASM - Jordan and the Arabian Peninsula region are being affected by "extremely severe" weather fluctuations resulting in heavy precipitation, "stormy" winds, and sharp temperature variations with noticeable increases followed by significant drops. This is due to the advance of a cold polar air mass toward the Eastern Mediterranean basin and Turkey beginning mid to late next week.
Jordan is being affected by cold and humid winds today, Wednesday, and tomorrow, Thursday, with the impact of these winds intensifying tomorrow, Thursday, temperatures dropping further, and scattered light rainfall expected overall in the central and northern regions.
Temperatures will rise noticeably on Friday and Saturday as warm spring conditions return. A significant rise is expected at the beginning of next week as conditions tend toward warmth, ahead of an approaching low-pressure system moving toward the Kingdom, followed by "extremely severe" weather fluctuations, heavy precipitation, and "stormy" winds, especially mid to late next week.
WASM advises caution regarding current weather conditions as they are rapidly changing, and temperature variations increase the likelihood of seasonal illnesses. Current spring is characterized by intense weather fluctuations and temperature variations due to sharp atmospheric circulation patterns this season. The WASM Regional Center has released an important study on this subject, which has also contributed to intensified snowstorms this season across wide areas of the world, including Jordan during the past month, which you can find via the link
