The heat wave begins on Friday with temperatures reaching 35 degrees Celsius in Amman and intensifies on Saturday and Sunday with temperatures reaching around 40 degrees Celsius.
The heat wave is driven from the Arabian Peninsula to Jordan and the eastern Mediterranean region, resulting from a high-pressure system that will be positioned north of Syria and Turkey, coinciding with the presence of the Indian monsoon low toward the north of the Arabian Peninsula, which pushes hot and warm winds from the Arabian Peninsula directly toward Jordan.
It is expected that the heat wave will coincide with hot and dry easterly winds during its impact, which increases pollution and light dust in the atmosphere.
WASM recommends wearing light and light-colored clothing, staying away from direct sunlight, increasing fluid intake, and running air conditioning units at a temperature of 23-24 degrees Celsius to operate at maximum efficiency and minimum electricity consumption.
