WASM- The Kingdom will be affected by several weather depressions that begin their impact on Wednesday and continue for several days, affecting various regions of the Kingdom including desert areas, Aqaba region, and Wadi Rum area. These weather depressions result in strong winds, cold weather, and heavy thunderstorms.
Tuesday.. Stable and warm weather during the day..
The Kingdom will be affected by a warm air front accompanying the weather depression on Tuesday, which forms north of Egypt, with partly cloudy weather and scattered light rain showers. Late Tuesday/Wednesday night, the weather will change rapidly and suddenly with increased thundercloud activity bringing rain to various regions including Aqaba region, desert areas, and Azraq area, with heavy and thunderous rainfall.
Wednesday and Thursday.. Cold and rainy weather at intervals.
The Kingdom will be affected by cold and rainy weather at intervals, with this rain being heavy at times and affecting various regions of the Kingdom. Rain will temporarily decrease Wednesday/Thursday night and Thursday morning due to the formation of another weather depression over the Cyprus Basin, which will cause renewed heavy rainfall across various regions including Aqaba region especially after Thursday afternoon. Flash floods and displaced floods are expected to form in several areas.
Friday through Sunday..
Rainfall intensity and cold weather will increase in the north and center of the Kingdom and southwestern regions of the country, while receding noticeably over desert areas and Aqaba region. The Kingdom is expected to be affected by a third and final weather depression early next week, causing renewed heavy to very heavy rainfall especially in the north and center of the Kingdom and later extending to the southwest of the country.
Alerts..
An orange alert level is issued for heavy rainy weather conditions from Wednesday through the beginning of next week at minimum, due to expected weather depressions affecting the Kingdom which are expected to continue consecutively for several days. It is advised to monitor warnings from the Jordanian Meteorological Department and instructions from Civil Defense and Public Security.
Long-term forecasts..
Successive weather depressions are expected to continue throughout the second half of February, reaching their peak coldness and heavy precipitation towards the end of the month and early March. Typically, February and March are characterized by rapid changes, weather fluctuations, heavy rainfall, and strong winds.
