Jordan | Alert of Heavy Rainfall and Widespread Flood Risk During the Coming Week

WASM - Temperatures will rise slightly and temporarily on Friday and Saturday in advance of a strong rainy weather system with heavy precipitation from Monday night through the end of the week, which is expected to bring "very large quantities" of rainfall across various regions of the kingdom, including desert areas and tourist areas.

Warm spring conditions during Friday through Sunday..
Temperatures will rise slightly at the end of the week through Sunday as the heavy rainy weather system expected next week approaches, with maximum temperatures reaching around 20-22 degrees Celsius in the capital and mountains, accompanied by scattered clouds appearing, while conditions remain cold at night.

Heavy rainfall next week starting Monday evening..
Heavy rainfall is expected starting Monday evening as a result of a deep low-pressure system over the Cyprus basin, with the presence of a very cold polar air mass over southeastern Europe coinciding with a subtropical air mass with high humidity advancing from the Arabian Sea, causing "very large quantities" of rainfall across various regions of the kingdom and the Middle East region within a strong rainy weather system with "regional influence."
The weather system will affect most regions of the kingdom, including desert areas, Petra, the Dead Sea, and tourist destinations, therefore it is advised to make full preparations for these strong weather conditions and not to underestimate them, and to pay attention to warnings from the Jordanian Meteorology Department, Civil Defense, and Public Security.

Continued presence of polar air masses over southeastern Europe..
Weather lows will continue to affect the kingdom until mid-Ramadan due to the continued presence of the polar air mass over southeastern Europe, Greece, and Turkey, which will cause weather conditions accompanied by very large quantities of rainfall.

Despite the cessation of rainfall during the previous period, it is not an indicator of the end of the rainy season, as various regions of the world are affected by strong storms that bring very large quantities of precipitation coinciding with breaks between these storms due to unusual behavior of the atmosphere.

February recorded the highest rainfall quantities in 30 years compared to previous "February months," and at the same time the longest rainfall break this season was recorded since mid-February, which is an indicator of extreme weather conditions in terms of very large quantities of rainfall during specific periods, and this is what is expected in the coming days.
