WASM – The Kingdom is being affected by sharp thermal weather fluctuations of a "khamsin" nature that will begin gradually during Friday evening, with temperatures rising and dust and sand-raising winds becoming active. These khamsin fluctuations will reach their peak on Saturday and gradually decline during Sunday.
It is expected that temperatures will rise during Saturday daytime to 35-37 degrees Celsius in the capital and mountains, amid dry weather and dust-raising winds in some periods, with a noticeable drop in temperature occurring mid-next week and a return to cold nights again in the mountains.
WASM Regional Center expects weather fluctuations to recur during the end of the current month once again, and it is expected that these fluctuations will result in sharp temperature differences, weather disturbances, and increased chances of thunderstorm rainfall later in the end of the month and beginning of June in a rare occurrence.
The reason for the continuation of these weather fluctuations and the temperature differences between sharp declines and significant increases without temperature stabilizing as usually happens at this time of year is due to the continued activity of cold air masses toward Turkey and the eastern Mediterranean, which cause these weather fluctuations. These resulted during the previous period in heavy rains and the worst wave of floods and torrents since 2018 for the southern regions.
