WASM – Heavy rainfall continues tomorrow, Wednesday, in the western regions of the kingdom amid cold and winter weather conditions. The rain will be accompanied by thunderstorms at times, and will sometimes fall as light snow mixed with rain in the early morning hours of Wednesday in the peaks of Tafila and Shobak.
The kingdom is affected by a low-pressure system accompanied by a cold and humid air mass of "polar origin" causing heavy rainfall across all regions of the kingdom, including desert areas and Aqaba, which is expected to bring very large quantities of rainfall.
Many western regions of the kingdom have recorded rainfall amounts between 20-25 mm until 1 p.m. on Tuesday, which is before the high peak of the weather condition expected in the coming hours.
A low-pressure system begins Saturday and continues throughout next week..
Weather will stabilize on Thursday and Friday daytime with rising temperatures, then a new low-pressure system will begin affecting the kingdom late Friday/Saturday night accompanied by a cold and humid air mass of "polar origin" bringing large quantities of rainfall throughout next week, which will sometimes be in the form of snow showers in the high southern mountains.
It is recommended to continuously monitor warnings from the Jordanian Meteorology Department and guidelines from Civil Defense and Public Security, and to not underestimate the weather conditions at all, staying completely away from low-lying areas and valleys.
Continuation of strong weather conditions throughout the spring season..
Despite the breaks in rainfall, the kingdom has been affected since the autumn season by strong weather conditions with heavy rainfall, as Jordan has been affected this season by 5 major flooding cases (major comprehensive conditions), making this season, despite the breaks, the most comprehensive rainy season in terms of rainfall and the frequency of sudden floods and flooding cases, as a result of sharp climate changes that have begun to appear in the form of very heavy rainfall in specific periods followed by clear breaks in rainfall.
WASM Regional Center was unique in predicting the return of winter and strong low-pressure systems toward the kingdom through its use of an advanced climate model, and despite the spread of rumors about the end of the rainy season in various media outlets, WASM will soon work on developing the meteorology sector in Jordan, improving the accuracy of forecasts, and raising awareness about climate changes.
