Jordan | Cold wave recedes early in the week as a prolonged rainy condition gradually begins mid to late next week

WASM – The rare seasonal cold wave is retreating from the Kingdom's atmosphere at the beginning of next week, before the impact of a long-duration rainy condition that begins mid-next week and intensifies significantly by the end of it.

The cold wave recorded minimum temperatures close to record figures in the capital Amman for the month of October, and some areas in the region in Arab countries recorded record-breaking minimum temperatures with rare snowfall in northern Iraq compared to the seasonal situation.

This cold wave advanced from northern Europe and crossed it as a result of high atmospheric pressure activity affecting most areas of Europe, this high pressure is called the "Azores High" which is an atmospheric high classified as a "permanent subtropical type" and with the presence of appropriate weather conditions that allow it to affect a wide range of the European continent, it causes cold air masses to be pushed towards the region.

With the retreat of the cold wave from the Kingdom's atmosphere, the opportunity for limited thundery rain showers increases, especially in the eastern and southern desert areas of the Kingdom, and mid and high clouds increase occasionally over various areas of the Kingdom with an improvement in humidity levels and its rise compared to this cold and dry period.

Deepening of the Red Sea Low mid and end of next week|
The impact of the Red Sea Low deepens gradually towards the Kingdom during mid-next week, which results in the beginning of a "long" rainy condition affecting the Kingdom that begins gradually during mid-week, and it is expected to intensify significantly by the end of next week and continue intermittently and in an almost consecutive manner until the first half of November.

Climate model data from WASM for atmospheric organization during autumn

The rainy condition will coincide with noticeably cold periods that are unseasonal and humid during the first week of November, and these rainy conditions will affect the Arab region at the same time.

WASM will issue details in sequence about the long rainy condition expected to affect the Kingdom and regional countries, which is expected to bring significant amounts of rain and exceed its seasonal averages during the coming period.

The WASM Regional Center does not expect significant rainfall interruptions during the upcoming rainy season, provided that rainy conditions continue continuously, however, the chances of dry cold waves or frost waves occurring in many periods of the upcoming rainy season are increasing significantly.
