Jordan | Cold weather Sunday and Monday with a polar wave and heavy precipitation from Tuesday evening through the end of the week

WASM- Very cold and unusual weather conditions continue at this time of year with the continuation of atmospheric low-pressure systems and heavy precipitation. Temperatures remain below their average by around 10-12 degrees Celsius, approaching zero degrees Celsius during nighttime hours in mountainous areas. The Kingdom is expected to be affected by a new polar wave, but with high humidity in the second half of this week. The high humidity reduces the feeling of intense cold and contributes to larger amounts of precipitation.

In detail, the weather will be less cold tomorrow, Sunday, compared to previous days with scattered clouds. Starting from Sunday/Monday night hours until Monday daytime, scattered rain showers will fall, which are mostly light, and a high-humidity polar air mass is gradually approaching the Kingdom.

The polar wave will gradually begin to affect the Kingdom on Tuesday, with thunderstorm showers mixed with hail and snow falling over wide areas of western parts of the Kingdom, especially during nighttime hours. The polar wave will deepen during the second half of the week, resulting in heavy rain and snow showers on the peaks of high mountains with strong winds.

The polar wave is expected to continue until next Saturday, then gradually begin to retreat from the Kingdom during the coming week. However, this does not mean a complete retreat of cold waves and atmospheric low-pressure systems, as the WASM Regional Center expects these atmospheric depressions and cold waves to continue for a late period of this rainy season in a rare and unusual manner.
