WASM - The WASM Regional Center has issued a red alert level for a "strong" and comprehensive rainy condition starting Wednesday and reaching its peak on Thursday and Friday, accompanied by large amounts of rainfall and coinciding with high rates of intensity in most areas, concentrated mainly in the central and southwestern regions of the Kingdom and the Dead Sea area as well as most eastern desert areas with cold weather and temperatures below seasonal averages, and the rainy condition coincides with strong winds in some periods that may stir dust in desert areas especially with the beginning of rainfall.
The reason for the weather condition is due to a deep atmospheric low that will be stationed for a long period southeast of Jordan and northern Saudi Arabia, accompanied by high humidity and an unstable cold air mass.
The WASM Regional Center recommends following the warnings issued by the Jordanian Meteorology Department and the instructions of Civil Defense and Public Security during the weather condition, and staying completely away from flood zones and water accumulations.
Wednesday.. Beginning of the Rainy Condition|
The heavy rainy condition begins on Wednesday afternoon from various areas in the form of thunderstorms that are heavy at times and for short periods concentrated in the north and central regions of the Kingdom, these rains gradually move to the southwestern region and intensify during the night and become heavy in those areas during the late night, dawn and morning of Thursday, and it is expected that there will be major flood risks.
Thursday and Friday.. The Rainy Condition Becomes Strong|
This weather condition is expected to intensify on Thursday, especially in the evening and night periods and become strong as a result of deepening the atmospheric low south of Jordan, and coincides with large amounts of rainfall that significantly increase the chances of floods in wide areas during the night hours, concentrated mainly in the center of the country, the Dead Sea area, southwestern region and desert areas.
The intensity of the weather condition increases on Friday and affects all regions of the Kingdom including desert areas, the Dead Sea, Aqaba, Petra and the capital Amman coinciding with strong winds.
A "deep" atmospheric low is expected to be stationed southeast of Jordan and northern Saudi Arabia for a long period coinciding with unstable air masses.
Saturday.. Gradual Retreat of the Rainy Condition|
The rainy weather condition gradually recedes with continued scattered rainfall in various areas, and cloudy and generally unstable weather continues during the beginning of the coming week and the chances remain favorable for renewed rainy clouds in different areas of the Kingdom.
This rainy weather condition affects wide ranges of Iraq, the Levant, Egypt, Kuwait and Saudi Arabia at the same time, making it a regional and strong rainy condition with wide-ranging scope that will result in an extensive wave of floods in the region.
The WASM Regional Center issued the monthly weather bulletin for the blessed month of Ramadan through the use of data from the developed climate model and the only one of its kind in the Arab region.
