Jordan | Continued Cool Nights Until Thursday with Noticeable Temperature Rise on Friday

WASM – Moderate summer conditions are expected to continue until Thursday as the country is affected by pleasant northwest winds coinciding with the appearance of low clouds and active winds. Temperatures will remain in the twenties Celsius in the capital and mountains during the day and around 16 degrees Celsius at night and in the morning.

Starting from Thursday afternoon, a slight rise in temperatures is expected, and a more noticeable rise in temperatures is anticipated during the end of the week, but for a short and temporary period.

Heat rise at the end of the week|
Temperatures will rise significantly during Friday and Saturday, ranging around 34-37 degrees Celsius in the capital and mountains during the day and at levels of around 40 degrees Celsius in low-lying areas, the Jordan Valley, Aqaba, and the Dead Sea. The weather will be hot in general across different regions, including mountainous areas, and less moderate during the nights at the end of the week compared to the previous period.

This rise is expected to be for a short period lasting one or two days, followed by a noticeable drop in temperatures to return to normal levels for this time of year. It is worth noting that the average temperature at this summer time is considered the highest during the year, and this type of temperature rise is a usual and natural occurrence.

Is it expected that the temperature rise will develop into a heat wave?
The temperature rise during the end of the week is considered normal and usual for the region, and since it will be for a short and temporary period, it is still unlikely to develop into a heat wave. However, changes are possible during the coming period and we will keep you updated.

The coincidence of the temperature rise in the Eastern Mediterranean region and the Levant with the continuation of strong heat waves in Europe will lead to the continuation of cooler than usual winds across the Aegean Sea towards the Eastern Mediterranean and northern Egypt, with its effects reaching as far as the western Levant and Jordan, which will help reduce the intensity of the effect of the seasonal hot air mass expected to concentrate its impact over the Jawf, Tabuk, and northern Saudi Arabia and eastern Jordan.

As a result of these weather conditions and the intensification of seasonal rains in southwest Saudi Arabia, this will also lead to unusual weather disturbances in areas of eastern Saudi Arabia during the end of the week and until the beginning of next week, which may lead to thundershowers, active dust-raising winds, and dust storms in those areas.
