Jordan | Continued snowfall on mountainous highlands above 900 meters with a new peak Friday evening

WASM- The impact of the strong snowstorm on the Kingdom is expected to weaken this evening and Friday daytime, however snow will continue to fall above 900 meters. With a new peak expected Friday evening and Friday/Saturday night, the level is expected to drop below 900 meters with new accumulations anticipated in the high mountains.

Snow accumulations in the peaks of the northern and central regions reached more than half a meter during the snowstorm, and the capital Amman recorded an average of 30 cm, as this storm caused road closures, power outages, and tree damage.

Heavy and accumulating snow is expected on the high mountains Friday evening, but for a shorter period compared to the first peak that occurred Wednesday/Thursday night.

Caution should be exercised regarding widespread freezing in areas where snow has accumulated during the upcoming nights, and the weather conditions should not be taken lightly. Stay away from low-lying areas and valleys due to the risk of floods.

Scattered rainfall is expected Friday evening and Tuesday daytime. The WASM regional center is monitoring a polar wave expected late next week, and details will be issued progressively.
