Jordan | Deep atmospheric low pressure, "storm-force" winds and heavy rainfall Thursday

WSMD - The Kingdom will be affected starting from the dawn of Thursday and during the late night of Wednesday/Thursday by a "deep-centered" atmospheric low around Cyprus island accompanied by strong-speed winds with "storm" gusts that will be severely cold with heavy rainfall in the northern and central parts of the Kingdom.

In detail, the Kingdom will be affected tomorrow Wednesday by the warm air front accompanying the atmospheric low, causing temperatures to rise significantly and noticeably, reaching and exceeding 23 degrees Celsius in the capital Amman coinciding with moderate to high cloud cover and light limited rainfall, and during the late night of Wednesday/Thursday rainfall will fall in the western parts of the Kingdom coinciding with a significant drop in temperature.

The Kingdom will be affected by a winter storm on Thursday, which results in "storm" winds with gusts exceeding 95 km/hour causing "widespread" dust storms in the desert and southern regions of the Kingdom, heavy rainfall in the northern and central areas and a significant drop in temperature, where the minimum is expected to reach around 2 degrees Celsius with a difference exceeding 20 degrees Celsius compared to Wednesday.

Very cold, cloudy, foggy and rainy weather will continue in the northern and central parts of the Kingdom on Friday, for the weather to stabilize on Saturday and become "severely" variable at the beginning of next week and all details will be issued.

The scientific reason for these expected strong weather fluctuations is due to the presence of a "severely cold" polar mass over Turkey and the northeast Mediterranean coinciding with the beginning of temperature rise in North Africa which causes high activity of atmospheric lows, and the horizontal temperature differences cause what is called "baroclinic atmospheric instability" which results in the activity of these deep-centered atmospheric lows, and this polar mass is expected to gradually approach Jordan and the east Mediterranean during the coming week, as it is also expected that this rainy season will extend until the end of spring.

Many central, northern and southeastern regions have recorded their rainy season "in full" early and contrary to what is common at the beginning of the rainy season, and WSMD always recommends following accurate sources in weather forecasts.
