Jordan | Distinguished seasonal rainfall performance and more heavy rainfall expected during the end of the year and beginning of the new year

WASM – The Kingdom continues to be affected by successive and strong atmospheric depressions that brought "massive" amounts of rain equivalent to more than five times the rainfall season in some areas in just the last two days, and most northern and central regions recorded more than half of the entire rainfall season, and in some areas exceeded more than 70% of the entire rainfall season!.

More heavy rain is expected during the end of the week over wide areas of the Kingdom, including desert and southern regions, as a result of an atmospheric depression that will be positioned north of Egypt and then move towards northern Saudi Arabia. These atmospheric depressions are characterized by the comprehensiveness of their precipitation even in desert areas compared to Cypriot depressions which are usually less comprehensive for Jordan and whose effects are usually concentrated in the north and center of the Kingdom and parts of the southwest of the country.

The new weather condition begins Wednesday evening from desert regions..
The atmospheric depression begins to form north of Egypt starting from Wednesday evening, with rain-bearing clouds beginning to form over the southern and eastern desert regions and then gradually covering most areas of the Kingdom on Thursday and throughout the weekend as the atmospheric depression moves to the south of Jordan and the north of Saudi Arabia. The weather condition is not classified as atmospheric instability, and this classification is considered "scientifically incorrect" as atmospheric instability cases are rare during the cold winter season due to the difficulty of air rising naturally towards the upper layers, and atmospheric instability cases are usually characterized by limited scope rather than comprehensiveness.

An extremely cold polar air mass positioned over eastern Europe..
Areas of eastern Europe, northern Turkey, and the Black Sea continue to record strong circulation of polar air masses and more intensely than usual, and this circulation causes the formation of strong atmospheric depressions with heavy precipitation over the eastern Mediterranean region, many of whose areas recorded record-breaking amounts of rain and unusual quantities.

The WASM Regional Center expects this polar air mass to approach slowly and gradually towards the eastern Mediterranean region with the beginning of January, causing more strong and colder atmospheric depressions. The movement of this polar air mass is considered highly complex due to the overlap of many factors which increase the difficulty of long-range weather forecasts, but the results of its strong surge towards the region remain high for many reasons related to general atmospheric circulation.

The WASM Regional Center always issues long-range forecasts characterized by high accuracy due to the advanced tools it possesses in terms of advanced technology and the unique climate model of its kind in the Arab region which is characterized by great accuracy and has succeeded in detecting these weather conditions for a long time.

WASM will issue all details and updates about the expected weather conditions during the coming period and monitoring of the polar air mass in eastern Europe and Black Sea regions and the rapid and unusual atmospheric oscillations.

It is worth noting that the Kingdom and the eastern Mediterranean region are affected by acute climate changes, which resulted in a significant increase in rainfall rates exceeding 60% during recent years and contrary to what is widely circulated in most local media circles.
