Jordan | Early and Seasonally Unusual Near-Winter Cold Begins Monday Evening

WASM – The Kingdom is expected to be affected by cold "semi-winter" weather conditions that are unusually early and "may be described as seasonally rare," beginning Monday evening and intensifying from Tuesday through Friday. This will result in a "significant" temperature drop reaching below 8 degrees Celsius in the capital and mountains in the morning, recording "semi-winter" values, and approaching 5 degrees Celsius in the high peaks coinciding with high activity of dry eastern winds which increase the sensation of this early cold.

Cold front pushing from Northern Europe via Southern Siberia|
Due to the nature of this cold "dry" air mass, which is expected to coincide with very low humidity values and high activity of eastern winds, it is expected that the real feel of temperatures will drop below 5 degrees Celsius in the mountains and plains, and the real feel of heat does not reflect the actual recorded temperatures expected to reach 8 degrees Celsius during the nights and dawn of Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday in the mountains and plains.

It is expected that the weather will tend to be slightly cold in the Jordan Valley, Aqaba and low-lying areas during the nights of mid and end of the week in a seasonally rare manner.

Temperatures rise later at the end of the week|
Gradually, temperatures will rise and medium and high clouds will increase with increased chances of rain showers in various areas and in the forefront of a heavy widespread rainy condition expected in the last days of the month, and this is a result of an "effective" extension of the Red Sea low accompanied by a warm and moist air mass.

Heavy rainy wave begins in the last days of the month|
The region will be affected by heavy and widespread rainy conditions after the early and seasonally rare cold wave. This rainy condition will affect a wide range from the north and west of the Arabian Peninsula, Jordan, Palestine, the Levant, Egypt and Iraq.

Due to unusual atmospheric circulation, the region is expected to be affected by consecutive rainy conditions, which are expected to be heavy at times and affect a wide range starting from the last days of the month and continuing through the first half of November coinciding with winter cold in some periods that are early and seasonally rare.

Scientific reasons for the early and rare onset of semi-winter weather conditions|
It is rare for these semi-winter weather conditions to begin at such an early time, and by reviewing atmospheric weather maps, unusual and atypical activity has been observed in what is called "jet stream undulation and weakness," which are strong currents that blow at an altitude of 9-13 km above sea level, and according to studies launched by WASM Regional Center during the summer, which was unique in this forecast and this observation, the effects of this sharp and unusual undulation of the jet stream will cause very early beginnings of winter weather conditions and will greatly increase the severity of rainy conditions and rainfall amounts during the coming period.

The jet stream undulation in this early and unusual manner is due to reasons related to rapid temperature changes in the tropical regions of the major oceans, particularly the Atlantic and Pacific. The sudden cooling in the tropical region of the Atlantic Ocean and the North Pacific caused this unusual behavior of the jet stream.

The jet stream undulation caused the formation of a strong and large area of high atmospheric pressure over most regions of Europe extending to the edges of the North Pole, and this is also reflected in North America, which resulted in polar air reaching the mid-latitudes and subtropical regions with intensity and force at a very early and rare time.
