WASM- The Kingdom will be affected by a new polar wave beginning mid-next week accompanied by heavy rainfall, winter precipitation, and extremely cold conditions.
The current severe cold polar wave will continue until Friday morning, then gradually recede with temperatures rising slightly at the beginning of next week, but temperatures will remain below their normal levels and the atmosphere will be colder than usual. Light rain showers will fall in the north and central regions of the Kingdom on Friday.
The new polar wave will begin mid-next week, especially from Tuesday, and will intensify during the end of next week, with thunderstorms expected on Monday and Tuesday.
Temperatures in the capital Amman dropped during the current polar wave to one degree Celsius below freezing, but dropped even further in the desert areas and southern mountains.
These weather conditions are unusual for this time of year, and are the result of a strong high-pressure system stationed over the European continent extending to its north, which pushes severely cold polar masses toward the Kingdom.
