WASM- The polar wave will intensify tonight and tomorrow Sunday across most regions of the Kingdom, causing heavy rainfall with strong winds and temperature drops, followed by heavy snowfall tomorrow during the day and evening of Sunday on the southern mountains and eastern desert of the Kingdom, reflecting a "strong and dangerous" weather condition in the Kingdom that requires taking the highest levels of caution, alertness, and readiness with no tolerance for the weather conditions.
In detail, a new air depression forms over Lebanon on Saturday, where rain continues intermittently in many areas and snow showers in the southern mountains of the Kingdom. Beginning tonight, rainfall intensifies in the north and center and becomes "very heavy" continuing until Sunday evening. This rainfall will be in the form of light snow showers in most northern and central areas until Monday morning, followed by a strong freezing and frost wave.
Regarding the southern regions, snow showers are expected today Saturday to be scattered and at high elevations, with precipitation easing during the night and tomorrow morning, then renewing from midday hours in the form of heavy snow in mountainous areas above 1100 meters, with this level gradually dropping to below 1000 meters, and heavy rain falling in low-lying areas. Heavy snowfall is expected to accumulate and obstruct life activities, with heavy snow also extending to a wide range of the eastern desert.
A frost wave is expected to extend to the northern Jordan Valley and many low-lying areas as well, causing significant danger to the agricultural sectors. We therefore advise farmers to take the highest levels of caution and readiness to protect crops from the frost wave continuing until Tuesday morning.
WASM issues a "red" alert level for strong weather conditions characterized by floods, torrents, heavy snow, and strong freezing and frost waves tomorrow Sunday until Monday morning.
WASM Regional Center is monitoring a new intensification of the polar wave on Wednesday and Thursday and its continuation for "extended days," with heavy rainfall and heavy snowfall expected to continue in many areas within an unusual weather condition expected in the Kingdom.
