Jordan| Heat wave intensifies Wednesday and Thursday and continues for many days

WASM – The heat wave will intensify tomorrow Wednesday and Thursday with temperatures approaching 38°C in the capital Amman and will continue throughout the weekend. A slight and temporary decline in the heat wave is expected at the beginning of next week, after which it will intensify again.

The heat wave began affecting the region since Friday and intensified noticeably during the beginning of the current week. It is expected to continue for "many days" with temperatures around 37°C in the capital Amman.

Hot and dry winds are blowing from far northern Saudi Arabia and northeast Egypt towards Jordan, and this effect is expected to continue for many days throughout most days of this month, with several peaks of the affecting heat wave.

Temperatures exceed 44-45°C in low-lying areas, the Jordan Valley, the Dead Sea, and Aqaba during the heat wave, 40°C in desert, eastern areas, and Zarqa, 37-38°C in the capital Amman, and around 34-35°C in the high mountains.

The coming nights will be warm and sometimes stuffy, with minimum temperatures around 25°C in the capital Amman, and around 30°C in low-lying areas and the Jordan Valley.

Wide areas of western and central Europe are affected by cold and rainy conditions, but the southern parts of the European continent, Turkey, and Greece are affected by a strong heat wave which is also expected to continue for many days.
