WASM- The Kingdom will be affected by a highly effective low-pressure system starting from Saturday evening until Tuesday morning, accompanied by heavy precipitation, extremely cold weather, and strong winds. The atmospheric low is associated with a polar air mass originating from western Siberia.
In detail, heavy rains will fall in the western parts of the Kingdom during Saturday evening and the night of Saturday/Sunday, continuing until Sunday daytime, occurring almost continuously in the central and northern parts of the country, due to the advancement of highly humid western winds accompanying the atmospheric low.
Chances of rain will gradually decrease after Sunday afternoon in various regions, in preparation for a cold "polar-origin" air front crossing the country on the night of Sunday/Monday, resulting in heavy precipitation in all regions of the Kingdom, including desert areas.
Very cold polar winds will advance toward the country on Monday evening and the night of Monday/Tuesday, resulting in intensified rainfall in all regions, with these rains mixed with hail showers and melting snow, especially on the peaks of high mountains.
The impact of the atmospheric low will continue until Tuesday morning hours, with weather stabilizing gradually amid extremely cold conditions during Wednesday and Thursday.
WASM Regional Center expects another rainy spell during the New Year period, and the continuation of successive weather systems through the first 10 days of January.
