Jordan.. Heavy rains and active winds during evening and night hours, continuing tomorrow Thursday

WASM - The effects of the weather depression are expected to begin from the evening hours over the northern regions of Jordan, including Irbid, Ajloun, Ramtha, Jerash, Mafraq, and surrounding areas, then gradually extend during the night hours to the central parts of the kingdom towards the capital, Salt, Madaba, and Zarqa, with heavy rainfall accompanied by active winds and dust stirring in desert areas, and contact clouds forming over high mountainous areas and reduced horizontal visibility.

Heavy rainfall is expected to include the city of Karak and its surroundings during dawn and morning hours, extending towards the southern highlands such as Tafila and Shobak.

WASM Regional Center has issued an orange alert due to heavy rainfall, which is expected to cause flash floods and torrential flooding in low-lying areas, valleys, and water accumulation sites.

Weather is expected to stabilize on Friday and Saturday with continued cold weather, partly cloudy and humid conditions, and limited chances of rainfall showers in some areas due to cloud cover and density and high humidity levels.

WASM Regional Center is monitoring a new rainy weather condition starting from Sunday evening due to the continued presence of a cold air mass over the eastern Mediterranean coinciding with an influx of warmer air masses towards northern Saudi Arabia, which increases the chance of thunderstorm cloud formation with rainfall.

A strong high-pressure area is expected to continue over central and northern Europe in mid-November, which will increase the chances of a colder air mass surge towards the eastern Mediterranean basin and renewed heavy rainfall at times.
