Jordan.. Heavy rains tonight and Monday, with snow on high mountains Wednesday

WASM – The Kingdom will be affected by a wave of heavy rainfall and snow over the next 4 days starting from Sunday evening, due to the country being impacted by cold polar winds emanating from Turkish territories and eastern Europe.

Heavy rain and strong winds will begin tonight (Sunday/Monday night) especially in northern and central Jordan and will extend with moderate intensity to the southern regions of the country later during Monday dawn. Rainfall and cold, foggy weather will continue until Monday, especially over northern and central Jordan, but the intensity of weather conditions will decrease slightly during Monday daytime and weaken Monday evening with cold weather persisting.

A new weather depression will form on Tuesday, with its effects beginning in the evening and night, accompanied by extremely cold polar winds advancing towards the Kingdom, resulting in renewed heavy precipitation in northern and central Jordan and parts of southern Jordan. Gradually, the precipitation will turn to snow during early Wednesday morning over areas exceeding 1000 meters above sea level, including various high mountain peaks in Jordan, including the peaks of the capital Amman and Ajloun highlands, extending towards Karak highlands and high southern areas exceeding 1200 meters in elevation.

Snowfall is expected to drop below 1000 meters for short periods during Wednesday morning, with generally light accumulations over areas exceeding 1000-1050 meters, especially the high peaks of the capital Amman which include Suweileh, Dabouq, Khalda, Tlae Al-Ali, and surrounding high areas.

From Wednesday evening, weather will gradually tend towards stability but with intensified cold, leading to freezing in several areas, especially those experiencing snowfall.

The Kingdom will be affected by extremely cold and dry easterly winds at the end of the week, with temperatures dropping below zero Celsius at night and feeling even colder. Weather depressions will resume activity next week, especially in the last week of January and early February.
