WASM – The continuation of
the atmospheric depression affecting different regions of Jordan with heavy rains tonight until Friday evening, with the weather conditions notably improving on Saturday and light rains falling in some areas, particularly in the southern regions.
The alert level will be downgraded starting Friday morning from red to orange, while heavy rains remain possible across different areas.
The atmospheric depression is positioned over southern Jordan and is moving toward northern Saudi Arabia and then central Iraq, accompanied by a cold and moist air mass with active winds.
The weather will stabilize on Sunday with temperatures rising noticeably, and rainy conditions will resume at the end of next week with a significant drop in temperatures. WASM is monitoring the development of more atmospheric depressions accompanied by extremely cold air and heavy precipitation around mid-month.
Today's weather conditions have caused heavy rains across different areas and the formation of floods and widespread flash floods. The weather conditions have also caused water levels to rise in the streets of the capital Amman due to the high rate of rainfall accompanied by thunder, lightning, and hail.
