WASM - Humidity levels will rise during the weekend, with hot and humid summer conditions during the day, and intense heat in low-lying areas and the Jordan Valley. Temperatures in the capital and mountains will reach 34-36 degrees Celsius, but with high humidity that makes it feel much hotter than the recorded temperatures.
Humidity levels typically rise towards the end of summer due to the warming waters of the Mediterranean Sea during summer days. The Mediterranean Sea is also recording temperatures 2-3 degrees Celsius higher than its seasonal average, which will further increase heat and humidity in the coming period compared to normal conditions.
Temperatures will drop slightly in the middle of next week before rising again towards the end of the week, with generally hot summer conditions prevailing during the second half of August.
Despite this, the current summer has been more moderate compared to previous years. This is because the severe heat waves that struck the European continent coincided with historical droughts. Weather conditions affecting Jordan are usually the opposite of what occurs in Europe. In the coming months, cooler periods and more rainfall are expected compared to previous years. These are climatic changes that have been clearly observed since 2015. WASM will issue a detailed study showing a significant increase in rainfall rates, especially in the northern and central regions of the Kingdom.
