Jordan | Hotter than usual summer weather with alert for active winds and wildfires

WASM – The weather will continue to be typically summer or slightly hotter than usual, coinciding with the activity of northwestern winds that stir dust and sand, particularly in desert and exposed areas. Wind speeds are expected to exceed 50 km/hour, especially during daytime hours extending into nighttime hours.

Wind speeds during this summer period that is slightly hotter than usual lead to an increase in the chances of forest fires, particularly in the northern regions of the Kingdom. Therefore, the WASM Regional Center advises following the instructions of Civil Defense and Public Security and the warnings issued by these authorities and adhering to the instructions fully and not lighting fires "at all" inside forests.

Seasonal temperatures Thursday and Friday|
Temperatures will be seasonally typical on Thursday and Friday, with temperatures around 30-32 degrees Celsius in the capital and mountains during the day and 22 degrees Celsius at night, coinciding with strong winds at times.

Slight temperature rise Saturday and Sunday|
Temperatures will rise "slightly" on Saturday and Sunday as the weather becomes slightly hotter than usual again (similar to the temperatures of the previous two days) with temperatures around 32-34 degrees Celsius with continued strong winds.

A moderately unusual summer wave beginning mid-next week|
Unusually, the Kingdom is expected to be affected by a moderate summer wave that will cause temperatures to drop below seasonal averages by approximately 5-7 degrees Celsius, starting from mid-next week and increasing in impact during its end. Moderate summer waves have repeated frequently this summer and are rare occurrences, due to the continuation of heat waves toward Europe and the western Mediterranean.

This summer may end without recording heat waves, which is the first time in many years, and the WASM Regional Center will issue this study and the scientific reasons related to this topic, which aligns with the Center's recent studies.
