WASM – The effect of the moderately warm air mass over the Kingdom is expected to increase during Sunday and Monday, with temperatures dropping slightly and gradually as low clouds increase and limited, localized rainfall occurs, especially in the northwest of the Kingdom. The atmosphere will become more spring-like in the high mountains, with maximum temperatures in the capital and mountains between 26-29°C and minimum temperatures around 15-18°C.
Significant rise in temperatures at the end of the week..
Despite these pleasant summer conditions, a significant rise in temperatures is expected for the first time this summer at the end of the week, particularly in the eastern desert regions of the Kingdom and desert areas and east of central regions, where temperatures will exceed seasonal averages by approximately 3-5°C, and are expected to reach around 35-38°C in the capital and mountains.
A warm air mass is expected to surge from the northern Arabian Peninsula regions, coinciding with the impact of hot and humid northwesterly winds in the western regions of the Kingdom, which will intensify the feeling of hot and oppressive weather during the afternoon and evening periods, but will reduce the actual recorded temperatures.
These hot summer conditions are not expected to persist over the Kingdom for long, as they are expected to gradually retreat after mid-month and diminish with the final third of the month, with temperatures returning below seasonal averages once again.
WASM advises continuous monitoring of warnings issued by the Jordanian Meteorology Department and avoiding direct sunlight during the expected hot conditions at the end of the week, and following medical guidelines and advice for dealing with hot weather conditions.
Wide areas of North Africa and southern and central Europe are affected by a severe heat wave, which has caused temperatures in parts of Algeria and Tunisia to reach record levels of around 50°C, potentially unprecedented in recent climate records.
