WASM - Expected
Jordan is expected to be affected by a weather depression starting from Wednesday evening hours, intensifying during Wednesday/Thursday night over the northern and central regions and southern mountains, including the capital Amman, Irbid, Ajloun, Jerash, Mafraq, Madaba, Karak, and as far as Tafila and Showbak. Rainfall will be thunderous and heavy, especially during Thursday dawn and morning hours, with flash floods and transported floods expected in low-lying areas and valleys.
The intensity of rainfall will decrease during Thursday/Friday night with the weather remaining cold and partially cloudy. Thunderous rainfall showers will occur throughout Friday in various regions, and thunderous rainfall showers will renew during Saturday with precipitation occasionally being heavy accompanied by hail showers and active winds.
This weather condition is caused by a deep and highly effective cold air front during Wednesday/Thursday night accompanied by a moisture-laden air mass and heavy thunderous rainfall, particularly over the northern and central regions and less intensely over the southern mountains.
Weather will stabilize on Sunday and remain cold with scattered clouds appearing. WASM is monitoring the renewal of rainfall later during early December.
WASM issued an orange alert level for the expected weather conditions during Wednesday/Thursday night and Thursday due to heavy rainfall and the formation of flash floods and transported floods.
