WASM – The Kingdom is being affected by moderate weather conditions and seasonal temperatures, with highs in the capital and surrounding mountains reaching around 29-30 degrees Celsius, but dropping at night to 17-18 degrees Celsius, appearing "slightly" cold in the mountains, with the continuation of northwestern winds that are active during the afternoon and evening.
Temperature rise on Wednesday and Thursday..
Temperatures will rise during the day on Wednesday and this increase will intensify on Thursday, but within a limited range, with highs in the capital and mountains reaching 32-33 degrees Celsius, which are record summer temperatures, then a notable decrease in temperature occurs on Thursday evening and at the weekend.
Clear temperature drop during the weekend..
Temperatures will drop significantly and noticeably during the weekend, returning below their seasonal averages, with increased clouds at various altitudes, and nights becoming slightly cold in the mountains with lows around 14 degrees Celsius in the capital and mountains.
Atmospheric disturbances at the end of the month..
Temperatures will fluctuate towards the end of the current month and during a short period between rises and decreases with active winds, and it is expected that the chances of rainfall will increase towards the end of May with expectations of the return of cold nights to the region.
Weather fluctuations continuing during this summer in a rarely occurring manner..
The climate model of WASM Regional Center has been activated, where completely new and unusual results have emerged, with expectations that all regions of the Middle East, including the Arabian Peninsula, Jordan, Egypt, and Iraq, will be affected by unusual and rarely occurring weather fluctuations during the summer period, particularly in June and July (months 6 and 7), and there is monitoring of expectations for a rarely occurring deviation of the seasonal winds coming from the Arabian Sea towards the south and west of the Arabian Peninsula and even to northern Egypt during the second half of June and until the end of July in intervals.
These results are also supported by several global climate models that were activated in May, and upon analyzing these results by the WASM Regional Center team, it was found that the reason is due to unusually high temperatures affecting the western region of the Arabian Sea and the Indian Ocean, which has caused a decrease in atmospheric pressure and expected changes in the path of seasonal winds to the Arabian Peninsula, as is clearly shown in the climate model simulations, including the climate model of WASM Regional Center which works with calibration equations for similar years.
With the issuance of many studies by WASM Regional Center in previous years on climate changes and their causing an increase in rainfall rates in the region by about 60%, other studies were issued by specialized centers in Saudi Arabia this year confirming the studies previously issued by WASM Regional Center on a significant increase in rainfall rates in the region and the lengthening of rainy seasons in a rarely occurring manner, and these changes and off-season rainfall began to appear clearly since summer 2018 and increased and reached their peak between 2021 and 2023, and it is expected to increase the impact of these weather conditions and climate changes during the coming years.
WASM Regional Center denies any report issued about a decrease in rainfall rates in Jordan in recent years, as these reports do not follow any scientific methodology since they are excerpted from climate changes specific to the European continent and northwest Africa, and climate changes differ from one region to another.
