Jordan | Monthly Report January 1-2022.. A Cold and Heavily Rainy Month

WASM - The WASM Regional Center issues the monthly bulletin for January 2022 using WASM's proprietary climate model, which has proven "exceptional" accuracy during previous months, with the model's accuracy exceeding the 80% threshold due to the continuous improvements being made to the model. The results of this model indicated a rainy and cold season, contrary to what was commonly reported in media outlets previously.

December 2021 recorded heavy rainfall well above average levels due to consecutive atmospheric depressions and heavy precipitation in the north and central regions, while southern areas continued to experience below-average rainfall. However, it is expected that rainy conditions over the coming weeks will extend to all regions of the kingdom, reflecting the accuracy of the climate model developed by WASM.

January 2022 is expected to witness heavy rainfall and continuous atmospheric depressions, with the possibility of occasional polar waves, particularly in the middle and end of the month as well as in the second week of the month. This is due to strong high-pressure systems dominating over the European continent and North Africa.

Weather conditions expected in detail..

January 1-4.. Consecutive atmospheric depressions with heavy precipitation and snow showers on high mountain peaks.
January 6-13.. Rainy weather conditions with a polar wave expected in the middle of this period.
January 16-22.. A polar wave expected over the kingdom with increased chances of snow falling in many areas.
January 26-29.. An atmospheric depression with expected rainfall, occasionally heavy.
January 31 to early February.. A new polar wave expected with increased chances of snow falling in many areas.

According to data issued from WASM's climate model, heavy rainfall is expected to cover most regions of the kingdom as well as Middle Eastern countries, marking the region's most severe weather conditions since the beginning of the rainfall season, which is becoming a strong season characterized by consecutive heavy rainfall and atmospheric depressions since autumn, contrary to what was commonly reported in media outlets.
