WASM- continues
The country will be affected by normal summer seasonal temperatures in the coming days, with conditions being moderate most of the time in the mountains and plains and slightly cool at night and in early morning, while remaining typically hot in low-lying areas, valleys, and Aqaba.
Temperatures in the capital and surrounding mountains will reach around 31°C during the day and below 20°C at night in parts of the mountains, coinciding with active northwest winds, and heat will reach around 38°C during the day in Aqaba, the Dead Sea, valleys, low-lying areas, and desert regions.
A moderate wave beginning gradually on Saturday and increasing in effect next week|
Temperatures are expected to drop significantly below seasonal averages in the coming week, beginning on Saturday and gradually, with the impact of this moderate summer wave increasing during the following week, with expectations of continued moderate summer waves affecting the kingdom throughout the current month.
June 6 - 2025 - seasonally moderate in most regions|
June recorded moderate temperatures in most regions of the kingdom except the northeastern desert areas, which recorded temperatures above seasonal averages.
Reprocessed maps and remote sensing data show the inability of hot air masses to affect the kingdom's atmosphere due to the activity of westerly and northwesterly winds that were affecting many central and eastern Mediterranean regions, and temperatures did not exceed 0.5°C above their seasonal averages, decreasing slightly in the western part of the kingdom (-0.25°C), but were higher than averages in the far northeast of the kingdom and northeastern desert regions at around (+1.5°C).
This is due to the containment of hot air masses away from most kingdom regions and moderate conditions throughout most days of the previous month with a complete absence of heat waves, along with the recording of several unseasonably cold nights in the mountains.
July is expected to be moderate and is expected to record below its seasonal averages in most western regions of the kingdom due to the dominance of strong heat waves over the European continent, which results in pushing moderate westerly winds toward the kingdom.
Through a study to be issued by WASM Regional Center soon, a sharp decline in heat waves has been observed over the last 5 years and a shortening of the summer season compared to the hot period noticeably between 2010-2021 due to a major change in the global weather system and intensification of heat waves toward Europe due to the weakening of jet streams in the upper atmosphere layers, along with recording a significant and exceptional increase in rainfall rates of around 40-60% during the last 10 rainy seasons.
Jordan | Normal summer weather until Friday and a moderate heat wave next week
