Jordan | Rainy and cold atmospheric depression begins Friday and intensifies Saturday and Sunday

TAG- The Kingdom will be affected by a atmospheric low-pressure system, the first of this rainy season. Its effects will begin gradually on Friday with scattered thunderstorms falling in various regions of the Kingdom, including the southern parts of the country, with these rains being heavy for short periods in some areas.

In scientific detail, the Kingdom will be affected in the evening of Thursday by the front of the atmospheric low-pressure system, as moist and warmer southwestern winds push in, resulting in light rain showers in parts of northern and central Kingdom. Gradually during Friday, the country will be affected by a cold air front accompanying the atmospheric low-pressure system, which is positioned in the Cyprus basin, with thunderstorm showers falling, temperatures dropping noticeably, and winds intensifying. Rain showers will be heavy in some areas, especially in the afternoon periods and during evening and night.

The effects of the atmospheric low-pressure system intensify in the Cyprus basin on Saturday, resulting in another drop in temperatures, intensified wind speeds, and rainfall, especially in the northern and central Kingdom, with these rains being heavy at times and causing water accumulation and flash flood formation in valleys and low-lying areas. The weather condition reaches its peak in the evening hours and night of Saturday/Sunday.

The effects of the atmospheric low-pressure system continue on Sunday, with it remaining positioned south of Cyprus and near Lebanese coasts, with scattered and sometimes heavy thunderstorm showers falling in various regions of the Kingdom. The effects of the atmospheric low-pressure system on Sunday will also include the southern regions.

The effects of the atmospheric low-pressure system gradually decline on Monday, with chances of rain showers continuing in the morning period and weather stabilizing during evening and night, with dense fog forming in many areas.

TAG issues a yellow alert level for weather conditions, with the level rising to orange on Saturday and Sunday due to heavy rains, then gradually declining to green during Monday with weather conditions stabilizing thereafter.

Looking at medium-range forecasts, another weather condition is expected, though less severe, toward the end of next week. All details will be issued progressively as the weather condition approaches and the areas expected to be affected by the weather condition are identified.
