WASM – Jordan will be affected starting from late hours of Friday/Saturday night with rainy weather conditions in the central and northern regions and more intensely in eastern Jordan, as a result of the push of humid winds coming from the southeast with cold humid winds coming from the north and west, which leads to the formation of rain clouds.
Tomorrow, Friday's weather will be generally cold and partly cloudy with scattered light rain in some northern and central regions. Cloud density will increase late Friday/Saturday night, and scattered rain will fall in the north, center, and eastern Jordan, including the capital Amman, Madaba, Salt, Zarqa, Jerash, Mafraq, Ajloun, Irbid, and the northern Jordan Valley and most eastern desert areas.
Rainy and cold weather is expected to continue during Saturday, with precipitation gradually weakening during the early night hours, weather will stabilize, and dense fog will form in large parts of Jordan, especially in the eastern part of the kingdom and Queen Alia International Airport area.
Weather will stabilize on Sunday with scattered clouds continuing. WASM is monitoring the return of rain and cold weather at the end of next week and before mid-month. WASM is also monitoring the intensification of rainy conditions after mid-December until New Year's at least, and more details will be issued continuously.
The reason for the humidity of the southeastern winds, which are usually dry, is due to their source of push coming originally from the Arabian Sea and passing through the Arabian Peninsula, which has been affected by large areas with a wave of heavy rain and widespread floods, which in turn formed large lakes and increased soil moisture and increased desert vegetation cover. The Arabian Peninsula has been affected for several years by increased rainfall rates significantly and the recurrence of flood waves more strongly than usual. This is due to climatic conditions affecting the atmosphere resulting from a disturbance in the oscillation of major climate factors as well as from rising temperatures on planet Earth.
