Jordan | Rare instability period from Sunday through Thursday with risks of heavy dust and localized flash floods

WASM – The Kingdom is affected by a tropical wave "high in humidity" coinciding with rising temperatures and a rare condition of atmospheric instability which leads to heavy thunderstorm rainfall locally in various regions of the Kingdom and dense dust waves.

It is expected that temperatures will remain above seasonal averages by around 4-6 degrees Celsius in various regions, and temperatures will remain within levels of 35-39 degrees Celsius in the capital, mountains and western regions of the Kingdom, and reach between 40-44 degrees Celsius in the eastern regions, Jordan Valley, Aqaba and the Dead Sea.

Within processing the recorded temperatures and calculating the "margin of error" that usually occurs in temperature readings, especially from weather monitoring stations within cities, the Kingdom did not witness any record temperature levels and were within the normal situation during the impact of hot air masses during the humidity period which was unusually high.

Thunderstorm clouds, heavy rainfall and dense dust waves|
The Kingdom is affected by a rare condition of atmospheric instability that began on Saturday evening in the eastern regions of the Kingdom and is expected to intensify from Sunday through Thursday and affect various regions of the Kingdom.

This weather condition leads to the formation of rare cumulonimbus clouds and rainfall in various areas that is locally heavy and leads to the occurrence of dense dust waves towards various regions.

There is concern about the formation of floods in some areas, especially in the south and east of the Kingdom during the impact of rainy thunderstorm clouds and as a result of locally heavy precipitation.

The high-humidity tropical wave begins to recede on Thursday|
The tropical wave high in humidity recedes starting Thursday and gradually, and temperatures drop to twenties in later time at the end of the week as a result of the country being affected by a moderate summer wave to bring back slightly cold nights in the mountains and plains.
