Jordan | Regional WASM Climate Model.. Continuation of Cold and Heavy Rainfall Periods During February and March

WASM- The WASM Regional Center issues long-range weather forecasts based on the center's own climate model, which is unique in the Arab region and is characterized by high accuracy. This model has succeeded in identifying "all" high-activity periods affecting the Kingdom since the beginning of the rainy season.

Looking at the latest climate model results, strong weather conditions are continuing to affect the Kingdom, especially in the north and central regions, with expectations of improved seasonal performance in the southern regions specifically during the month of March.

Mid-February ..
Weather depressions are expected to resume affecting the Kingdom, particularly during the period between the 13th and 19th of the month. During this period, very large amounts of rainfall are expected in many central and northern regions, with central regions exceeding their seasonal average, following the northern regions exceeding their rainy season in the recent winter storm.

Weather is expected to stabilize for a short period after February 19th and for a few days before renewed very cold weather activity resumes towards the end of February.

Late February and early March ..
The WASM Regional Center is monitoring this period, as very cold conditions are expected to return to the region with heavy precipitation expected in many areas. More details will be issued as the time period approaches.

The Holy Month of Ramadan ..
Weather will be variable with the beginning of the holy month (between warm and cold), but as we approach the mid-month period, cold and rainy winter conditions are expected to resume with heavy precipitation in many regions of the Kingdom.

How does the climate model work?
It operates using the statistical "calibration" method, collecting all similar years and all variables in major climate patterns and their impact on atmospheric circulation cycles. With the addition of complex equations, this produces new years.

This model has successfully predicted all previous years with great accuracy, particularly the 2019-2020 season and the 2021-2022 season, and has also been able to forecast summer rainfall during the previous season. The Kingdom has been affected over the past 8 years by a significant increase in rainfall rates coinciding with an increase in temperatures at the same time. Many northern and central regions have recorded an increase in rainfall rates of around 60% since the 2014-2015 season, and seasonal performance during the 2018 to 2020 seasons reached 200% consecutively, as a result of climate changes affecting the region and the world.
