WACSM- Jordan will be affected by winter conditions with cold and humid weather over the coming days, with scattered rainfall expected tomorrow, Monday, as the country is impacted by an extension of a weak low-pressure system centered in the Cyprus Basin, coinciding with periodic activity of cold and humid westerly winds and fog formation in mountainous areas, with precipitation concentrated in the north and center of the Kingdom.
Chances of rain decrease on Tuesday, with conditions remaining cold and partly cloudy, and gradually a new low-pressure system forms south of Cyprus Island, with the Kingdom beginning to be affected by the low-pressure system after afternoon hours on Wednesday in the form of heavy and sometimes thunderous rainfall, particularly in northern and central areas, and as a result of an inflow of extremely cold winds toward the country, snow and hail showers mixed with rain fall on high mountain peaks without expecting their impact on general life phenomena, but they may cause slippage during their occurrence, especially heavy hail.
The low-pressure system advances south of Syrian territory on Thursday and clouds accompanied by precipitation gradually push toward the south, leading to scattered rainfall and snow showers on high mountain peaks above 1300-1400 meters above sea level, accumulating slightly on high peaks, particularly in the Shoubak and Tafila highlands.
The low-pressure system continues until Thursday evening and night, then begins to gradually recede, and temperatures rise noticeably during the weekend with weather tending toward warmth.
WACSM has issued a yellow alert level for weather conditions tomorrow, Monday, but it rises to orange after Wednesday afternoon and on Thursday due to intensification of precipitation mixed with snow and hail.
The WACSM Regional Center is monitoring additional low-pressure systems between March 8-12 or around that time period, and will issue all details continuously.
