Jordan | Rising Temperatures and Typical Summer Conditions in Coming Days with No Heat Waves on the Horizon

WASM – Temperatures will rise over the coming days to return to their typical summer levels or slightly above, with temperatures becoming within seasonal averages, with no heat waves or hot air masses expected over the Kingdom.

Rise in temperatures to seasonal levels in coming days|
Temperatures will rise to typical summer levels mid-week and toward the end of the week or slightly above, with hot weather during midday and afternoon periods especially in low-lying areas and the Jordan Valley and moderate for most of the time especially in the mountains, with temperatures reaching 33°C in the capital and mountains or around these levels, which are within seasonal averages or sometimes slightly above that.

Moderate conditions will continue during night and morning hours in most areas especially mountains and plains with minimum temperatures reaching 20-22°C and noticeable cold is not ruled out during late night hours in high mountains and exposed areas due to active winds.

Alert from active winds and strong gusts|
Winds are expected to intensify significantly starting Wednesday with gusts reaching more than 60 km/hour, leading to dust and dirt storms in exposed and desert areas, with peak wind activity expected during afternoon hours until evening.

Due to the spread of forest fires during the recent period, WASM Regional Center advises caution regarding their recurrence with expected wind activity especially starting Wednesday, and calls on everyone to follow Civil Defense and General Security guidance and instructions.

With rising temperatures during midday and afternoon periods, WASM Regional Center recommends proper use of air conditioning units and setting them at temperatures not less than 24-25°C.

Moderate summer wave|
Unusually and with the complete absence of heat waves this summer, the Kingdom is expected to be affected by a moderate wave leading to a drop in temperatures below seasonal averages by several degrees Celsius during the end of the current month and until the first week of August, which is considered the hottest period during the year, and during this summer it is expected that the opposite will occur as temperatures will reach twenty-degree levels in the mountains for several days, which is abnormal compared to this time of year.

The reason for the continuation and succession of moderate waves this summer and the absence of heat waves is due to the dominance of hot air masses and severe heat waves over the European continent, which led to pushing moderate winds toward the east of the Mediterranean Sea.
