WASM- The rainy winter condition is approaching its end following a wave of heavy rainfall over several days that affected wide areas of the central and northern regions of the Kingdom, bringing "massive" quantities of rainfall that exceeded "more than one-fifth of the seasonal rainfall" in some areas, resulting in the achievement of one-third of the current rainfall season to date in the north and center.
Scattered rainfall is expected to continue until Friday evening, which is expected to extend to the highlands in the south of the Kingdom, amid the continuation of cold, humid, and foggy weather in the mountainous highlands. Beginning from Friday evening, weather will stabilize but temperatures will drop noticeably and approach freezing in some high mountainous areas and exposed regions.
Weather is expected to remain stable from Saturday until Wednesday amid the appearance of light scattered clouds. Beginning from the end of next week, the Kingdom will be affected by a long-lasting winter weather system that brings more rainfall, heavy precipitation, and cold weather, making the current rainfall season one of the distinctive seasons that achieved excellent continuity in rainy weather conditions since the autumn season, particularly in the north and center. Improved rainy conditions are expected in the southern regions of the Kingdom.
December (month 12) recorded rainfall "significantly" above the average in the north and center and below the average in the southern regions. WASM Regional Center mentioned in its monthly bulletin the expectation of consecutive and heavy rainy weather systems affecting the Kingdom during December, with rainfall above the average, which has indeed materialized to date. It also denied rumors of weather stagnation and rainfall interruption that spread across various media outlets.
