Jordan | Sharp weather fluctuations and near-winter conditions at the end of the week

WASM- The Kingdom continues to be affected by ongoing weather fluctuations as a result of the continued surge of cold air masses towards the eastern Mediterranean basin region, which has caused large amounts of rainfall this season and a prolonged rainy season.

It is expected that a cold and moist air mass will surge into the Kingdom, resulting in weather conditions closer to winter, with temperatures dropping noticeably and scattered rains occurring starting from Friday until the beginning of next week, with temperatures expected to reach 7 degrees Celsius in the capital and mountains during morning and night periods.

It is expected that the cold and moist air mass will temporarily retreat during the middle of next week, causing a noticeable and significant rise in temperatures, and the continuation of weather fluctuations at the beginning of May.

Temperatures remain below their seasonal averages in general during the holiday period, particularly in the first period of the holiday, and scattered rains have fallen in some southern and eastern areas.

Signs of a moderate summer..
With the operation of WASM Regional Center's climate model, which has performed significantly well in detecting the strength of the current rainy season, it is expected that the current summer will be more moderate, with expectations of rare and off-season rainy cases in some areas, with details to be released soon regarding the areas that may be affected by these off-season weather conditions, and it is expected that the hottest periods will concentrate during the end of the summer season.

Large rainfall rates affecting the Middle East and Jordan contrary to what is circulated in the media..
The Middle East and Jordan region is affected by large amounts of rainfall that have reached "exceptional" levels in many areas as a result of strong climate changes that have begun to intensify in the region, with rainfall rates increasing by more than 50-60% in Jordan and the southeast Mediterranean region, and doubling to more than 100% in wide areas of the Arabian Peninsula, in addition to the emergence of rare and off-season rainy cases occurring during dry seasons.

The data from the climate model at WASM Regional Center indicates expectations of the continuation and intensification of these changes during the period between 2023 and 2030, and it is expected that many areas in the Middle East will record more than double the seasonal average in an almost annual and habitual manner.

The current rainy season has been present strongly since the beginning of fall, and rainfall quantities have recorded unprecedented figures in many areas during winter and spring periods and may be unprecedented in some areas, which prompts WASM Regional Center to warn against local media outlets that publish incorrect and unscientific information about climate changes due to lack of awareness about these changes and their misunderstanding, resulting in the dissemination of incorrect weather information and forecasts in local media outlets, which has caused significant losses across various sectors of the Kingdom, especially the agricultural and tourism sectors, particularly those that occurred in Petra during the recent winter period.
