Jordan.. slight rise in temperatures on Monday and Tuesday with atmospheric depressions beginning at the end of the week

WASM – Temperatures will rise slightly on Monday and Tuesday with the maximum approaching 20°C in Amman on Tuesday. Active easterly winds are expected to continue, intensifying the cold sensation especially during the night and morning hours.

Starting from Wednesday, the Kingdom will be affected by the leading edge of a low-pressure system positioned west of Cyprus, causing southwesterly winds to activate and stir up dust in desert areas. The weather will be cloudy with medium to high and dense cloud cover, with temperatures remaining close to 19°C during the day. Temperatures will drop noticeably during the night between Wednesday/Thursday as a cold atmospheric front deepens towards Jordan accompanied by a low-pressure system, bringing scattered rainfall and active winds especially during Thursday dawn.

WASM is monitoring the formation of another new low-pressure system next weekend accompanied by heavy rainfall, strong winds, and a significant drop in temperatures. A polar air mass is expected to settle over Turkish territories and Eastern Europe, which is anticipated to cause the formation of more low-pressure systems during the period after mid-month accompanied by much colder conditions and heavier rainfall, with these conditions expected to persist until the end of the month.

The expected low-pressure systems are anticipated to significantly improve the performance of the rainy season due to large amounts of rainfall expected across various regions, particularly in northern and central areas.

In scientific detail, a strong high-pressure system that has begun to deepen over western and central Europe will push extremely cold polar air towards Eastern Europe and Turkey. Our climate model has been detecting this development precisely for some time. This polar air mass will remain in place for an extended period exceeding 3 weeks over the Eastern Europe region, causing the formation of deep low-pressure systems over the Eastern Mediterranean accompanied by heavy rainfall and very cold conditions at times. WASM recommends all sectors and the public to continuously follow weather bulletins issued by the Jordanian Meteorology Department to obtain continuous warnings about weather conditions during the coming periods.
