Jordan.. Strong Heat Wave Recedes on Friday

WASM-  The strong heat wave will gradually recede on Friday and temperatures will drop, especially during the evening and night hours, with active northwest winds stirring dust and sand in desert areas.

The strong heat wave continues to affect today Wednesday and tomorrow Thursday with limited thunderclouds forming especially in desert areas and rain showers falling with active dust and sand-stirring winds.

Temperatures in the capital Amman reached 43 degrees Celsius on Monday, making it one of the highest temperatures recorded and the highest temperature since 2010.

The cause of this strong heat wave is due to the monsoon winds rushing towards the Arabian Peninsula which caused heavy rains in scattered areas, which pushed the hot winds to reach Jordan and the Levant especially with the formation of a strong high pressure system north of Syria, Iraq and Turkey coinciding with the deepening of the thermal low pressure system over Egypt and northern Saudi Arabia.
