Jordan.. sunny conditions until Tuesday, with rain returning and cold weather expected Tuesday evening

WASM - Conditions are expected to be sunny from Sunday through Tuesday with clouds appearing at various altitudes during some periods, and the weather will remain generally cold. Starting Wednesday, Jordan will be affected by the leading edge of a new low-pressure system.

Rain is expected to begin from the night hours of Wednesday/Thursday through Thursday, with cloudy, cold, and rainy conditions and fog formation in high mountainous areas due to dense clouds touching the mountainous regions.

WASM is also monitoring renewed rainfall during the coming week with a significant drop in temperatures due to the continued formation of low-pressure systems in the Mediterranean region.

WASM is expected to issue a yellow alert level according to the latest updates it adopts, and changes are possible regarding the expected weather conditions on Wednesday and Thursday and during the coming week.

In scientific detail, significant activity of strong storms was observed in the northern Atlantic Ocean and then northwestern Europe, which will in turn drive cold air masses toward northern and eastern Europe and then its south, causing activity of the Mediterranean front on which Mediterranean low-pressure systems form near Greece and to its south. This drives several low-pressure systems toward the region, and the first cold air masses are expected to be pushed from the Black Sea region toward the northeastern Mediterranean on Wednesday and Thursday, then through southern Italy and Greece later during the coming week.

The air mass accompanying these low-pressure systems is expected to be cold and generally humid, and these systems are expected to intensify during the coming month starting from the last week of December and the Christmas holiday period.
