WASM - A strong heat wave intensifies beginning Thursday and extending until the beginning of next week, with temperatures rising significantly and exceeding 43 degrees Celsius in many Jordanian cities, as well as surpassing 45 degrees Celsius in the desert and low-lying areas of Jordan.
The Red Sea thermal low extends toward northern Saudi Arabia, which brings hot and dry winds toward Jordan, resulting in a significant intensification of the strong heat wave. Additionally, clouds will increase, which will be thunderstorm-related in some areas accompanied by limited rainfall and active winds that stir up dust and sand, especially during evening periods.
Eastern winds that stir up dust and sand are expected to be active during the weekend and the beginning of next week, with a significant increase in surface humidity levels during evening periods.
WASM recommends wearing light-colored, lightweight clothing and increasing fluid intake, avoiding direct sunlight, and operating air conditioning units at temperatures no lower than 23-24 degrees Celsius to avoid excessive electricity consumption and pressure on electrical sectors under these weather conditions.
The strong heat wave will gradually recede beginning September 8, with an expected temperature drop later on Wednesday, September 9.
