WASM - Temperatures will rise temporarily on Friday and Saturday as a result of the Kingdom and countries of the eastern Mediterranean being affected by the leading edge of a mild air mass expected to begin affecting the region gradually from Sunday evening, with its effects increasing throughout the coming week and continuing for "several days".
Temperatures in the capital and mountains are expected to reach 32-34°C during the day on Friday and Saturday, then decrease on Sunday to 30-32°C, and then drop to the twenties during the coming week as the mild air mass affects the region.
Northwestern winds are expected to activate during the coming days at intervals, moderating the atmosphere especially in the afternoon and evening periods. The weather is expected to remain moderate most of the time in the mountains, especially during evening and night hours, and the nights of the coming week are expected to be slightly cold.
Temporary rise in temperatures at the end of the week|
Due to forecasts of a rare rainy low-pressure system forming over Turkey, northwest Syria, and Lebanon during the coming week, this will lead to a temporary rise in temperatures on Friday and Saturday as a result of the Kingdom being affected by the leading edge of the mild air mass. Temperatures are expected to exceed 32-34°C during the day on Friday and Saturday in the capital and mountains, but they will remain moderate during the night and early morning.
Significant drop in temperatures next week|
The mild semi-spring weather conditions are expected to begin gradually affecting the region from Sunday evening, with their effects intensifying during the middle of the coming week. This will lead to temperatures in the twenties with a semi-spring character during the day with the presence of low clouds and slightly cold conditions during the night and morning in the mountains and capital. The chances of unseasonable rainfall are also expected to increase in Syria, Lebanon, and parts of Palestine during the middle of the coming week, though rarely.
Mild air masses will continue to affect the region until the first half of July|
As a result of the continuation of strong and consecutive heat waves affecting Europe, mild air masses are expected to continue affecting the eastern Mediterranean, the Levant, and Jordan until at least the first half of July, leading to abnormal weather conditions especially on the European continent.
The WASM Regional Center will continue to monitor weather conditions during the coming period and the strong heat waves affecting Europe, which are considered a dangerous indicator of sharp changes in atmospheric circulation patterns that have become more negative for Europe in terms of the frequency of drought waves, heat waves, and local floods, and more positive effects on the Mediterranean, the Levant, and Jordan in terms of increased rainfall rates in recent years and the decline in the intensity of heat waves since the summer of 2021.
