Jordan | The exhausting tropical wave gradually recedes Friday, with near-autumn weather beginning Saturday

WASM – The Kingdom will continue to be affected by a humid tropical wave that is exhausting until Thursday, coinciding with thunderstorms, heavy rain showers, and dense dust waves in various regions of the Kingdom. Temperatures in the capital and mountains are expected to reach 39-42 degrees Celsius on Wednesday and around these levels, coinciding with increased humidity during certain periods.

Weather instability continues until Wednesday|
Weather instability, which is "rare seasonally" and is considered the most distinctive characteristic of this tropical wave, continues with heavy thunderstorm rainfall occurring in an "unprecedented manner in modern climate records in terms of coverage and extended time period," affecting various regions of the Kingdom compared to this hot and stable summer season.

As a result of heavy rainfall in some areas, flash floods are expected to form in low-lying areas and valleys, as well as dense dust waves that could lead to zero horizontal visibility.

Alert for flash floods in low-lying areas and valleys and dense dust waves|
Flash floods are expected to form as a result of heavy rainfall in various regions of the Kingdom from Monday to Wednesday due to weather instability resulting from a humid tropical wave that surged from tropical and subtropical regions toward the Kingdom, also causing temperature and humidity to rise at the same time.

Due to the intensity of thunderstorms, especially in desert areas, this leads to strong wind gusts descending toward the ground, which causes strong dust storms to be stirred up.

Weather instability is expected to weaken on Thursday, and weather will stabilize on Friday with the withdrawal of this "humid" tropical wave from the Kingdom's atmosphere.

The "humid" tropical wave surged from the equator toward western Saudi Arabia and its southwest, extending to Jordan, Palestine, and the Levant. It acquired some desert characteristics during its surge, and this tropical wave is considered rare, coinciding with exceptional weather phenomena that caused widespread heavy rainfall unprecedented in climate records

High temperatures continue coinciding with "exhausting" humidity |
Temperatures are expected to reach 37 degrees Celsius in high mountains and western capital highlands to 42 degrees Celsius in the east and center of the capital during Tuesday and Wednesday, and are expected to reach around 47 degrees Celsius in the Jordan Valley, Aqaba, the Dead Sea, and desert regions.

Moderate summer wave|
Temperatures will drop "sharply" and noticeably during Friday, and a moderate summer wave is expected to surge toward the Kingdom, leading to a temperature drop below seasonal averages by several degrees Celsius. This means a significant temperature difference is expected in the coming period that warrants attention and caution.

Important alerts|
- Increase fluid intake due to exhausting humidity which increases sweating and fluid loss from the body.
- Avoid direct sunlight in all areas.
- Be fully alert to strong dust storms whose effects will continue over the coming days.
- Stay away from flood-prone areas and water accumulation zones due to heavy rainfall.
- Operate air conditioning units at temperatures no lower than 25 degrees Celsius to avoid putting strain on the electrical sector.
