WASM – The Kingdom is affected by a low-pressure system positioned near the coasts of Lebanon accompanied by rainy and cold conditions. These rains are sometimes heavy, causing the formation of floods in low-lying areas and valleys, particularly in the Dead Sea region and northeast of the Kingdom.
In detail, a cold air front is moving toward the Kingdom accompanied by thunderclouds and heavy rain showers occurring at times during midday and afternoon periods over the north and central parts of the Kingdom and parts of the southwest of the country.
Heavy rains are expected during Wednesday evening and Wednesday/Thursday night over the north and central parts of the Kingdom coinciding with active winds.
Thursday's weather will be partly cloudy with scattered rain showers, especially during the morning period, and temperatures will drop during the night hours to below 6-7 degrees Celsius in the capital and mountainous areas.
Rain chances are expected to continue on Friday and Saturday over different areas of the Kingdom, particularly the eastern desert regions, as a result of atmospheric instability.
The WASM Regional Center is monitoring the deepening of a "polar wave" at the beginning of next week with "substantial" amounts of rain and a noticeable drop in temperatures across different regions, with expectations that this wave will reach its peak strength during the end of the year and the beginning of the new year.
