WASM- The Kingdom is expected to be affected by a new series of several atmospheric depressions. The first atmospheric depression will begin affecting the Kingdom late Tuesday/Wednesday night through Wednesday evening, followed by another more intense atmospheric depression that will begin gradually on Thursday afternoon and will have a strong impact on various regions, including desert areas and the Aqaba region. The Kingdom is expected to be affected by another depression with the beginning of next week. These atmospheric depressions will bring large quantities of rain and significantly increase the chances of flood and flash flood risks due to high precipitation rates.
First Atmospheric Depression|

The effect of the first atmospheric depression will begin late Tuesday/Wednesday night and continue through Wednesday evening for a period lasting 12-15 hours. It will result in a significant drop in temperatures and thunderstorm rainfall across various regions, including the Aqaba region and desert areas.
Gradually during Wednesday evening, the effect of this atmospheric depression will begin to recede, with rainfall receding as well, while wind activity continues and the atmosphere remains cold.
Flash flood risks are expected, especially in the Aqaba region, desert areas, the Dead Sea region, and parts of central and northeastern Kingdom.
Second Atmospheric Depression|
Period.. from Thursday afternoon through Saturday morning..
Affected areas.. various regions at the beginning of the effect and western Kingdom toward the end of the effect.
Alert level.. Orange and reaching Red in some areas.
The second atmospheric depression is expected to begin affecting the Kingdom on Thursday afternoon, causing renewed thunderstorm rainfall, which will become heavy to very heavy across various regions, particularly Thursday/Friday night and Friday daytime. The rainfall will result in the formation of flash floods and transported floods in low-lying areas and valleys, which include the Aqaba region, the Dead Sea area, Wadi Rum, desert areas, and the Azraq region.
Rainfall will gradually recede during Friday daytime over desert and Aqaba regions, and will continue heavy over northern and central Kingdom and the southwestern highlands until Saturday morning.
Third Atmospheric Depression|
Period.. from Saturday afternoon through Monday..
Affected areas.. northern and central Kingdom and the southwestern highlands..
Alert level.. Yellow.. and Orange in northern and central Kingdom..
This winter atmospheric depression will coincide with cold and rainy conditions, with these rainfall events being heavy at times, particularly over northern and central areas, amid cold atmosphere and active winds. More detailed updates will follow as the time period approaches.
Weather is expected to stabilize gradually during mid-week with temperatures rising toward the end of the week, but for a short period, before renewed atmospheric depressions are expected to occur, bringing colder conditions and accompanied by heavy precipitation during late February and early March based on data from the regional climate model of the WASM Regional Center.
