Jordan Tomorrow Thursday.. Atmospheric Low Pressure with Severe Thunderstorms and Risk of Floods Across All Regions of the Kingdom

WASM – Jordan will be affected tomorrow, Thursday, by a strong weather condition resulting in heavy thunderstorms throughout all regions of the Kingdom, which is due to the positioning of a low-pressure system north of Egypt accompanied by a deep cold air front with high effectiveness affecting the Kingdom on Thursday, coinciding with a noticeable and significant drop in temperatures.

The weather condition will begin to affect late tonight from the southern regions including Aqaba, then gradually extend during dawn towards Al-Tafila and Al-Karak, reaching the capital Amman, Madaba, Zarqa, and Salt with morning hours, and extend towards the northern regions during late morning hours.

The weather condition reaches its peak in southern Jordan during the dawn and morning period, while in the central and northern regions during afternoon and evening hours.

The weather condition will weaken during Thursday/Friday night and continue sporadically over northern and central Jordan to renew on Friday in various regions but with less intensity.

It is expected that the weather condition will cause the formation of torrents and widespread flowing torrents, especially in the southern regions of the Kingdom and clearly also in other regions including the capital Amman, the Jordan Valley areas, and the Dead Sea region. WASM issued a red alert level due to the severity of the weather condition which requires extreme caution and vigilance. The red alert level is considered the highest alert level in the WASM system consisting of 4 colors. WASM advises complete avoidance of low-lying areas, valleys, and water collection sites and not approaching those areas. It also advises all responsible authorities to be fully prepared for these severe weather conditions, and WASM recommends continuously following the warnings of the Jordanian Meteorology Department.

The weather condition will continue on Friday in various regions but with a noticeable decline in its intensity compared to Thursday. The weather condition will weaken on Saturday where rain showers will continue in scattered areas, then recede on Sunday with stable weather and rising temperatures.

The cause of the weather condition is the presence of a low-pressure system north of Egyptian territories coinciding with the surge of a warm air mass with high humidity from the Red Sea, and with the advancement of the cold air front accompanying the low-pressure system, this causes heavy thunderstorms with wide-ranging rainfall covering various regions on Thursday.
