Jordan | Weather Alert: A rainy and cold air depression with strong winds beginning Wednesday evening

Label- The Kingdom will be affected by a rainy and cold atmospheric low pressure system coinciding with active to strong winds at times, stirring dense dust in desert areas, starting from Wednesday evening.

Rains are expected to affect northern regions after Wednesday afternoon, then gradually extend during Wednesday evening and night to central areas of the Kingdom, including Balqa highlands and the capital Amman. These rains will be thundery and heavy in parts of northern and central regions of the Kingdom.

Wind gusts are expected to reach 60 km/hour coinciding with cold weather, with temperatures dropping to 8 degrees Celsius in the highlands of the capital Amman on Wednesday evening and Wednesday/Thursday night.

The label issues a yellow alert level for rainy and cold weather conditions on Wednesday/Thursday night, but it reaches an orange level in parts of Ajloun, Jerash and Irbid highlands due to heavy rainfall and flash flood formation in valleys and low-lying areas.

Flash floods and transferred floods are expected to form in northern regions Wednesday night due to heavy rainfall. The effect of this rainy atmospheric low pressure system is expected to gradually recede during Thursday, with rain showers continuing in the morning in northern and central regions of the Kingdom coinciding with dense fog in high mountains leading to poor horizontal visibility.

Weather will stabilize over the weekend and temperatures will gradually rise starting from Saturday and during the beginning of next week. Conditions are expected to become warm during daytime hours for a temporary period before stronger atmospheric low pressure systems are expected to return during the mid-month period, God willing.
