Jordan | Weather Alert.. Atmospheric Low Pressure System, Heavy Rainfall and Cold Conditions from Thursday Evening Until Saturday Evening

WASM- The Kingdom will be affected by a atmospheric low pressure system centered around the Cyprus basin accompanied by heavy rainfall, cold winter weather, and sometimes strong winds from Thursday evening until Saturday evening, particularly affecting the central, northern, and eastern regions of the Kingdom.

In detail, the Kingdom will begin to be affected by a "warm" frontal system with light to moderate rainfall starting from Thursday dawn across various regions, especially southern and eastern areas, followed by the cold frontal system advancing during Thursday evening, resulting in heavy thunderstorm showers particularly in the north, central, and eastern regions of the Kingdom.

The Kingdom will begin to be affected by a cold and highly humid air mass starting from Friday dawn with the atmospheric low pressure system settling over Cyprus island, accompanied by very humid and active to strong westerly winds. Rainfall will occur in the northern and central regions of the Kingdom, becoming heavy from Friday noon until Saturday noon, sometimes continuous and thunderous.

The southwestern regions of the Kingdom will be affected during the Friday/Saturday night by the atmospheric low pressure system in the form of scattered rainfall and strong winds, with gusty conditions occasionally reaching storm force.

The impact of the low pressure system will weaken starting from Saturday afternoon, with weather gradually stabilizing Saturday evening and Saturday/Sunday night coinciding with dense fog and cold conditions.

Weather will be temporarily stable on Sunday and Monday coinciding with strong easterly winds, followed by the Kingdom being affected by heavy rainfall conditions mid and end of next week covering desert and southern regions.

It is expected that successive rainy conditions and atmospheric low pressure systems will continue affecting the Kingdom throughout the coming weeks, resulting in "large quantities of rainfall," cold and winter conditions.

WASM issues an orange alert level for weather conditions in the northern and central regions of the Kingdom starting from Thursday evening until Saturday evening, yellow alert level for the southwest of the Kingdom, while orange also reaches the eastern regions Thursday evening.

It is recommended to stay away from low-lying areas, valleys, and areas of water accumulation, and to listen to warnings from the Jordanian Meteorology Department, Civil Defense, and General Security.
